Educational Use Notice and Trademark Notice
Part A: Educational Use Notice
1. Purpose of This Course
The COI-CRP course is a self-paced professional education program in open-source intelligence methodology, evidence handling, and courtroom defensibility. It is delivered online by The Waldrep Company. The course is intended for sworn law enforcement officers and federal agents conducting authorized investigations, licensed private investigators, defense, prosecution, civil, and corporate attorneys retaining technical experts, corporate threat intelligence, fraud, and trust-and-safety staff, insurance and regulatory investigators, practicing or aspiring digital forensics examiners, active-duty military intelligence and cyber personnel, and compliance, anti-money-laundering, and sanctions analysts working under documented institutional authority.
It is not a license to conduct surveillance, intrusion, or data collection against any person or organization without lawful authority. Nothing in this course should be read to encourage, authorize, or excuse activity that violates federal, state, local, or foreign law.
2. No Attorney-Client or Investigator-Client Relationship
This course is educational content. Enrollment does not create an attorney-client relationship, an investigator-client relationship, an expert engagement, or any fiduciary relationship between the student and The Waldrep Company or Eric L. Waldrep. The course does not provide legal advice. Students must consult licensed counsel admitted in the relevant jurisdiction before relying on any material in this course to make decisions about a specific matter.
3. Legal Authority Is the Student's Responsibility
Every technique demonstrated in this course is presented in the context of a lawful authority that the student must independently establish before applying it. Lawful authority can include a warrant or court order issued by a court of competent jurisdiction, a grand jury or administrative subpoena, the documented written consent of every person whose data is collected, a statutory or regulatory mandate that authorizes the collection, a written engagement from counsel of record in a specific matter, or a documented internal investigation authorization from an employer collecting on its own systems or against its own personnel under a published policy.
The student is solely responsible for confirming that a lawful basis exists before applying any technique taught in this course to a specific subject. The Waldrep Company makes no representation that any particular technique is lawful in any particular jurisdiction or set of facts.
4. Tool References Are Educational, Conceptual, and Public
All tool references in this course are educational and conceptual. The Waldrep Company has no commercial, affiliate, referral, reseller, paid partnership, or endorsement relationship with any tool vendor, platform, exchange, blockchain analytics provider, public-records aggregator, or third party named anywhere in the course materials. Tool descriptions are drawn exclusively from publicly available vendor documentation, publicly available vendor blogs and release notes, peer-reviewed academic research, and publicly reported court opinions and government reports.
No proprietary, sealed, restricted, leaked, internal-agency, or non-public information is reproduced in this course. References to specific tools are illustrative of categories of capability and are not endorsements. The student must validate any tool against its current documentation, license terms, and applicable law before operational use.
5. No Real-Case Content
No fact pattern, exhibit, image, transcript, declaration, screenshot, or other artifact derived from a real investigation conducted by Eric L. Waldrep or The Waldrep Company appears anywhere in the course. All worked examples, demonstrations, case studies, and exam scenarios are fictional, composite, or drawn from publicly reported case law and government reports. Identifying details that appear in publicly reported sources have been preserved only as needed to allow the student to locate the original public source.
6. Source Citation Standard
The course paraphrases public sources and cites them. The course does not reproduce more than fifteen words verbatim from any single public source without quotation marks and a precise citation. Citations point to the publicly accessible source so the student can independently verify the underlying claim.
7. Currency of Information
Open-source intelligence platforms, search operators, terms of service, vendor capabilities, court decisions, and statutory frameworks change frequently. Material in this course reflects the state of the field at the recorded date of each lesson. The student is responsible for verifying that any technique, operator, platform behavior, statute, or precedent remains current before applying it to a live matter. The Waldrep Company does not warrant that any specific search operator, platform feature, or legal authority will function or remain authoritative after the recording date.
8. No Guarantee of Investigative Outcome
Investigations involve facts, evidence, witnesses, judicial rulings, and counterparty conduct outside the control of any investigator. The Waldrep Company does not warrant that completion of this course will produce any specific investigative outcome, conviction, civil judgment, employment outcome, or expert-qualification result for any student in any matter.
9. No Guarantee of Expert Qualification
The COI-CRP credential is a certificate of professional education issued by The Waldrep Company. It is not a license, an accreditation, a government certification, or a substitute for the trial court's gatekeeping function under Daubert v. Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals, Kumho Tire Co. v. Carmichael, Frye v. United States, or any analogous state standard. Whether a particular witness is qualified as an expert is a determination reserved to the trial court in the specific matter. The Waldrep Company makes no representation that any student or holder of the COI-CRP credential will be qualified as an expert in any specific case.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, The Waldrep Company and Eric L. Waldrep are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages of any kind arising out of or related to the student's use of, or reliance on, course content. The student's exclusive remedy for any dissatisfaction with the course is the refund policy posted on the course sales page at the time of enrollment.
11. Export Control and Sanctions
Some techniques discussed in this course may be subject to export-control or sanctions regulations of the United States or other jurisdictions, including the Export Administration Regulations, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, and rules administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control. The student is responsible for compliance with all applicable export-control and sanctions laws when applying course content across borders, when sharing course content with non-United-States persons, and when conducting collection that touches sanctioned jurisdictions or persons.
12. Honor Statement on the Final Exam
The final exam is delivered online and is not human-proctored. By taking the final exam the student attests that the student personally answered every question without assistance from another person, another live communication channel, or a generative artificial-intelligence system. The student's internet protocol address and the time and date of submission are logged for integrity purposes. Falsification of the honor statement may result in revocation of the COI-CRP credential and disqualification from future enrollment.
13. Governing Law
This notice and the enrollment agreement are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Venue for any dispute lies exclusively in the state and federal courts located in Mobile County, Alabama.
